Re-Opening for Business

Ecuador as a country has been in quarantine lockdown since Mid-March. Most people have stayed at home all over the country. In Cayambe, however, the Project of the home for at-risk children has remained opened and although the clinic was open on more of an “on-call” basis with minimal services, all of the staff has continued working in different capacities. All of the staff from the Prevention and Intervention program have continued working as well. We have been so inspired by their hearts of service and the ways they have continued to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in Cayambe and the surrounding communities who are marginalized, not cared for or underserved. This last week, Ecuador lifted some of the quarantine restrictions, but the clinic in Cayambe has been open to serving Covid-19 positive patients for two weeks. It is currently open as it was in the past with all of the specialities and services as before with the addition of being able to care for those with Covid-19 where most other clinics and even hospitals do not have the resources to do so. Currently there are three positive patients being cared for at the clinic.

Please pray for the staff of the Clinic, Home for at risk children, Prevention and Intervention programs. Also pray for for Rolando, our project coordinator and the local Covenant pastor, Pastor Jose who are working day in and day out to serve, care and be present with many, many people.

To explain a little bit about the picture. F.A.C.E stands for Fundacion Adelanto Comunitario Ecuatoriano. They are the NGO and the community outreach portion of the Evangelical Covenant Church here in Ecuador. They are working tirelessly to help serve not only Cayambe, but Ecuador as a whole. We are grateful for their leadership and the care they have for the vulnerable and marginalized.
