A Family Reunited
My name is Blanca and I am 11 years old. Two and a half years ago, I was placed into the Home for At Risk Children Santiago with my three siblings: Luisa (8 years old), Marco (6 years old), and Miguel (4 years old). The day we entered the Home was because MIguel, the youngest, had left the house and started wandering through the streets in search of food since we didn’t have any at home. I hadn’t realized that he had gotten out and the police found him later in the day. When looking for my parents, they came to our house and saw that we (the kids) were all alone and that we had no food nor a place to sleep; plus, everything was very dirty and messy.
Today, I feel sad and at the same time very happy. After 2.5 years, they have finally told us that we are going to go live with my parents again. It is a joy that we can return to our parents, but I am also sad because at the Sanitago Home, I have many friends, and I am also going to miss my aunts (the careworkers). I thank them for taking care of me and my borthers and sister during this time. I hope at some point to be able to return, but only to visit them.
Help us to continue to make more Reunifications take place like this.
