Last week we held a Holistic Medical Caravan. A group of Santiago Partnership volunteers came to serve in ministry and helped faciliate this caravan as support to the Medical Clinic as well as reaching out to underserved communities.
The idea behind our Holistic Medical Caravans is to serve the medical needs of the patients who are seen, but not just that, the goal is to serve the whole person - the body, mind, soul, and spirt.
Day One was held at the Medical Clinic, to support our staff there.
Day Two was in the community of Lote Cuatro. Some of the caravan members visited the school there to give workshops on handwashing and dental care and 80 children received fluoride treatments. Additionally, many families in the community received care.
Days Three was a tour of the all of the ministries of the Santiago Partnership and a trip to Otavalo!
Day Four was another day at the Medical Clinic to support the staff.
The last day, Day Five, took place in the mountain village of La Carrera.
In total 291 patients were seen!
Here is the breakdown of services provided:
Pediatrics: 54
General Medicine: 76
Vascular: 60
Gynecology: 57
Dentistry: 44
We are so incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve so many. Maybe you or someone you know would like to some serve on a Holistic Medical Caravan in the future. Our dates for 2024 will be released in the near future.
