Story of Dignity - Mirian

My name is Mirian and I live in Cochapamba.

Because of things that have happened in my life and because of mistakes made, I am not well regarded where I live and my family is very distant from me. We also had problems with the father of my children; there was violence and he left, so I have no help. I feel alone and I have to work to support my three children.

I work in agriculture. Sometimes there are onions and other times there aren't. It's very difficult for us. I know that I have to keep going for my children. It is hard for me because of me and my mistakes. They keep my children away.

I thank the project and the foundation because in hard times they have been there and have helped me, talking, listening to me and taking me to the health center, which it is a great help for me.

Sometimes, as I am alone, the project partners help me by talking to my children. My son is the second one who is a part the project; he is young but he is the man of the house. He has had to learn and thanks to the visits they have made, he has matured. I would like to continue learning the things that they teach and that my children also learn the things of the project so that they are good kids.

The message that our friends in Cayambe share as our vision for the project is “Sembrando con amor la esperanza de una vida digna“ or “Sowing with love the hope for a dignfied life.” Our goal with our ministries is that each person that we minister to has a sense of dignity and even more that they feel valued and respected in who they are and their value to us as a human being. We want each person that we serve to feel respected and loved and for them to know that they have value to us. Our goal is to serve the recipients of our ministries with this end as our focus.

In fitting with this theme, we have started a new initiative called Stories of Dignity. The point is to share about the ministries that are being carried out in Cayambe and the greater Cayambe area over a two month period through story. Normally for us during this part of the year, the donations to the ongoing ministries slow down and so we hope that these stories will inspire you to help us to create even more stories in the future. We still have a ways to go to raise our needed goal in receiving another $6,840 over these two months to support the ongoing work that we are doing in Cayambe. Will you be a part of making more Stories of Dignity?
