Ecuador tries to prevent the spread of Coronavirus

The most recent news about the coronavirus here in Ecuador is that we now have 23 cases as well as one death from the coronavirus. All schools were closed as of last Friday. You can read the updates here.

Like much of the rest of the world, we are all bunkering down in our homes to help contain and prevent the spread of this menacing sickness. Please pray for the kids and the workers in the Home for At Risk Children as they deal with this crisis as well as the staff of the Medical Clinic as they respond medically to the surrounding community. Here was an update shared earlier in the week:

As fear leads the charge in a lot of the crisis of the Coronavirus, we just wanted to remind everyone that God is with us all. The name of the project here in Ecuador his Clinica Emanuel, Casa Hogar Emanuel, God is with us! In light of all that is happening we just wanted to give you an update on how the Coronavirus is affecting Ecuador. Due to the down turn in the world economy, oil prices have been affected which has caused a huge blow to the Ecuadorian economy. The life here is very dependent on oil sales as it is our largest export. This directly affects our project as the Ecuadorian government yesterday instituted drastic measures to try and face the crisis here. We hope and pray this will not have direct affects on funding that is received for the home for at risk children and prevention programs. Additionally, because many here in Ecuador rely on tourism for their livelyhood, as less and less people travel here, that also means less for those dependent on tourism. Please pray for Ecuador and other Latin American countries.
