Minga for the Second Floor
Last week we held a Minga for constructing the 2nd floor on the Home for At Risk Children in Cayambe. A “Minga” is a Kichwa word meaning communal volunteerism where folks in one area come together to work on something together to do good. You can think of it in a similar way as you do an Amish Barn Raising. With our Minga, Covenant friends came from the greater Cayambe area as well as from a Covenant church in Quito to be a part of the construction of the 2nd floor of the Home for At Risk Children. We spent one long day working together to pour all of the concrete needed for the roof of the 2nd floor. It was a long day with a lot of very hard work but we accomplished our goal and had a lot of fun and good food in the process. It is such a blessing to be able to work together with our Covenant sisters and brothers in Christ in such a tangible way.
